Veganism is a way of life. It is making a conscious effort of eating plant-based foods, choosing clothes that do not involve any animal cruelty and a bunch of other choices in life that does not involve animals getting hurt because of man’s exploitation. When it comes to food, especially if you’re not vegan, most of us would think that it is almost impossible to feed solely on plants! And you must also think that it tastes weird. But vegan lunch has gained its popularity over the past few years that even the non-vegans eat them! To make a vegan lunch bowl there are 5 steps.

Step One: Vegan lunch starts with a base

There are a variety of bases you can choose from to build-up your vegan lunch bowl. You can choose from a variety of complex carbs like quinoa, whole grain, sweet potatoes, yams, and even wild rice. Some people even opt for millet and sorghum which are also a different variety of grain.

Step Two: Toss on your Veggie of Choice

You can put in as many vegetables as you want. It can be cooked like: steamed, roasted or grilled, or it can be fresh. You can even make use of frozen veggies if that is more convenient for you!

Step Three: Pick Your Protein

Tofu is a popular option for vegans who want to boost their protein intake. But there are other options for protein source like nuts, seeds, beans, and legumes.  Make sure you get enough serving of protein on your plate for that additional nutritional value!

Step Four: Your choice of Fat

It is important to incorporate healthy fats it in our vegan lunch bowl because it will help keep us full. An example of healthy fats are fats you get from avocados, olive oil, nuts, and seeds. But also, be aware of the number of fats you add to your diet.

Step Five: Top it with some sauce

Dressings add spice and life to your vegan bowl! A favorite of mine is the spicy Thai dressing! But you can choose from a variety of dressing available on the market. Examples of popular dressings are savory tahini dressing, garlic soy maple dressing, creamy curry dressing and many more!
